Gilles Villeneuve was Enzo Ferrari's favorite driver because of his attacking and daring style of racing on the track, and his gentle humility off of it. For the same reasons, this collector was also a fan of the great Canadian pilot.
In 1979, he had an opportunity to meet his hero at a reception held by Ferrari North America at the U.S. West Grand Prix in Long Beach. He was introduced to Villeneuve and although he rarely gave autographs, he signed the cover of the 1978 Ferrari Yearbook. Included is a copy of the private invitation to this reception.
Villeneuve's signature is on the cover next to him driving in the 1978 Grand Prix at Long Beach. The signature is clear and visible, but the ink has faded over the ensuing decades despite the owner's best efforts to use archival storage.
A rare opportunity to own a collectible that was a treasure of the current owner and now is available to be yours.
